2017

A free three evening series was presented to interested medical professionals. Continuing Education Credit was offered. Each evening included 45 minutes of classroom activities and 45 minutes of yoga practice. Assessment was performed with pre-post test and course evaluation

Introduction to Yoga as Medicine with its bringing together different professionals from different campuses served not only to expand awareness of yoga but also to expand connections between individuals, professions and work groups. They demonstrated attainment of knowledge based objectives but more just as importantly many participants shared positive changes personally from the practices. There were requests for follow up information/sessions, so the seeds have been planted for further development within the system.

Personally the surprise of the sessions was a realization during practice on the second night that I was leading a group in yoga. That was a new role; one which I had never envisioned for myself. Yet there I was in the midst of it and all was well. I have confidence in leading interactive didactic courses and was delighted to see this potential within myself to develop as a leader of yoga groups.
