Summary of Ginger Garner's NATA conference presentation in Las Vegas, NV

2014

In short, Ginger Garner did a bang up job of presenting her life’s work in Professional Yoga Therapy to a group of athletic trainers at the NATA conference this past June. The focus of Ginger’s presentation was the concept of controlled flexibility, which in a nutshell, captures the essence of the physical practice of the PYT model.

One suggestion for future presentations is to incorporate breath work, visualization and movement into the lecture portion of the presentation. While it is important and valuable to separate out the algorithm into a lab section to allow for hands on learning, I believe many of the tenets of the PYT method can be incorporated into the lecture portion as well. Why not introduce the concept of mindfulness during the lecture with a taste of chocolate? Or introduce “the pause” during the lecture. Perhaps you could set the tone of the class with a guided meditation, raise the collective energy with a standing stretch break, and end with a visualization exercise to review the key talking points.
As for future speaking engagements, I would certainly welcome the opportunity to work with you in the future. I was drawn to PYT by your mission statement to revolutionize health care. I have experienced the draw of a lovely group of people to this method, and have no doubt that any efforts I put into PYT will manifest in my professional and personal development
