My Community Case Competency project includes a power point inservice to my current pelvic health outpatient orthopedic team (attached below). This was an opportunity to provide updated research, review anatomy and physiology for benefits of the 3 diaphragms and their crucial role in the pelvic health population. We also performed and discussed application of the nap meditation to use with clients. I will also provide a handout that may be used for clients for the nap meditation, with link to Ginger Garners YouTube video.

The 3 diaphragms inservice was beneficial personally to review the anatomy and physiology based off MTY and Ginger Garners work. I find myself using these strategies and research in my weekly practice and find such benefit with the biopsychosocial approach. The pelvic health team had great questions and interaction throughout the inservice with a long discussion based on breathing techniques and current strategies used. One point came up of how billing/dx is impacted when a client is referred for pelvic floor and may benefit from cervical/thoracic or respiratory diaphragm work. Adding ICD 10 codes like M99.02 etc would be a good add. The resources gave great research options to back up our medical necessity for treatment. The nap meditation handout will provide clients with more options for follow through in addition to the YouTube video.
